North Korea holds a space science seminar

North Korea held a seminar on space science and technology on Wednesday at Kim Il Sung University in Pyongyang. North Korea's state news agency KCNA showed North Korean researchers, scientists, technicians and teachers attending the seminar. About 20 organizations including National Aerospace Development Administration, State Academy of Sciences, Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology participated in the seminar. More than 160 papers on the design, production and launch of satellites, and also field of basic theory on space science and technology, were presented at the seminar. KCNA said the seminar was aimed at pushing forward its space science and technology through academic exchange. North Korea is banned from developing nuclear and missile-related technology under U.N. resolutions. North Korea launched a long-range rocket in 2012 and its state media said it had successfully put a satellite into orbit.
