Paper Lanterns: Myanmar Lovely Traditional Festival
Paper Lantern Festival organized by Myanmar International Television is going on for 2 days at the Shwe Htut Tin Grounds in Yangon. You see hand-made paper lanterns in various designs and paper lanterns competitions, varieties of entertainment programs and can try Myanmar traditional snacks at the event.
Aiming to preserve and revive a traditional lantern making handicraft, Paper Lantern Festival 2015 organized by Myanmar International Television kick off in Yangon.
The festival is celebrated for 2 days and most of the visitors came to enjoy the beauty of hand-made paper lanterns.
Visitor, Aung Naing Oo: I've come with my son and daughter. I feel very relax and my son and daughter also enjoy this festival. Tazaungdaing lantern festival is very significant in our country and we need to conserve this tradition not to disappear. I also welcome such kind of paper lantern festival to celebrate in Yangon.
Visitor, Thanda: I enjoy this festival very much and it remind me of my childhood days. I came with my daughter as I want her to see Myanmar traditional paper lanterns. Myanmar traditional festivals are very lovely. Holding this kind of festival can not only conserve Myanmar tradition but also make Myanmar tradition known to the world.
This is 2nd time festival featuring with entertainment programs, displaying varieties of hand- made paper lanterns and professional and primary level competitions are also included in it.
Cash awards will be given to best prize winner, 1st runner up, 2nd runner up, the people's choice award and consolation prizes.
Contestant, Bawga street, Kyimyindaing township, Su Su Maw: I compete in this competition in order to conserve Myanmar tradition. I prepared bamboos and papers for about 15 days to compete in this competition. I try my best in this competition.
Contestant, Tin Zar Myint: I love Myanmar traditional paper lanterns. I also competed in this competition last year and got second prize. Our family has been running paper lantern business since our forefather. I enjoy to compete in this competition. I hope to get first prize this year.
The festival will run till Thursday, full moon day of Tazaungmone and medicinal Mazeli bud salad are also treated to every visitor.
