Program Relaunched: NRC Cards To Be Issued For Labors
The factory workers who don’t have the National Registration Card will be provided with the arrangement of the Immigration and Labor Departments by the end of April.
Issuance of NRC cards to factory workers started last year, and over 3000 workers have already received their NRC cards in Yangon Region.
But the program was suspended before the election, and is going to relaunch in May.
Officials said that the plan will be implemented as one of the departments’ 100-day projects after the new Government took office in April 1.
STAFF OFFICER, IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT(HLAING THAYA TOWNSHIP), MYO WIN: We are now drawing the plans included in the 100 days project. Providing NRC card to the labors will be included in our 100 days project.
The officials said most of the factory workers come from different States and Regions, so that the employers have to present their official labor list to the Labor Department.
DIRECTOR GENERAL, FACTORIES AND GENERAL LABOR LAW INSPECTION DEPARTMENT, WIN SHEIN: Most of the labors are from other states and regions and they don’t have NRC card. The employers have to give their official labor list to our department.
The Department of Labor is going to collect the list of labors from the factories after Thingyan Water Festival holidays.
