Signature Event: Non-stale Robe Weaving Contest

Myanmar people celebrate Tazaundiaing festival with many different activities. One of the significant event is overnight robe weaving competition called Matho Thingan. Mathoe robe means the weaving of the robe must be completed within the same night and must be offered to the Buddha before dawn. Moethoe robes weaving competitions were held at various prominent pagodas across the country such as Shwedagon, Botahtaung, ShwePhonePwing and Gabaraye pagodas in the evening of the eve of fullmoon day of Tazaungmone. 9 religious associations contested in the 31st Mathoe robe weaving contest of the Shwedagone Pagoda. Likewise, 22 teams contested in the 33rd  Mathoe robe weaving contest in Bothahtaung Pagoda. At the 25th  the mathoe robe weaving contest in Shwephonepwing pagoda, 12 religious accociation contesting team participated. 7 religious associations took part in the 18th  Mathoe robe weaving contest of Gabaaye pagoda.
