Yemeni citizens remain divided about upcoming ceasefire, peace talks

Yemenis remain divided about the effectiveness of an upcoming ceasefire and peace talks, with their country suffering from brutal conflicts and unrest for over one year. The United Nations special envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed said on Wednesday that the warring parties have agreed to a cessation of hostilities starting at midnight on April 10, which will be followed by peace talks in Kuwait one week later. Some Yemeni citizens expressed optimism and are looking forward to the halting of combat in their homeland. Others say that no matter what the outcome of the peace talks are, they hope to make efforts to rebuild their country and get their lives back on track.  The fact that previous humanitarian truce talks have ended in failure also frustrates many citizens. During the year, the international community has unsuccessfully attempted to mediate the two sides, failing to bring an end to military operations.
