World Statistics Day: Better Data, Better Lives

Myanmar observed the world statistics day with the theme "Better data, better lives" in Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday with an address by union minister Dr. Kan Zaw. He pointed out that statistics are very important as preparations need to be made for post 2015 development program and taking 2020 world population and household list. He added that, in Myanmar, a new statistics was already drafted and the summery of statistics policy and national strategy for statistics development are being finalized. In cooperation with KOICA, Myanmar Statistical Information Service- MISIS website was launched at this ceremony.  The message from UN headquarters was read out and video message of director of UN statistics department was shown. Myanmar statistical information service-MMSIS website was introduced. The Korean ambassador Lee Beak Soon and Chairman of Korean statistical development university also spoke on the occasion. The meeting on statistics development followed after the ceremony with the theme "better data, better lives".
