SDG Goals: Can Be Achieved Through A Free & Secure Democratic Society
Aiming to end all forms of poverty, inequalities and to tackle climate issue, Sustainable Development Goals was adopted by the world leaders UN General Assembly in September 2015.
17 goals and 169 targets are set out in the plan in order to be developed these goals around the world.
SDG goals and targets came into effect in 2016 and will guide the decisions over the next 15 years around the world.
Being a member of the United Nations, Myanmar has been striving to implement the SDG goals in all sectors.
At the recently held UN General Assembly in New York, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi pointed out that Myanmar can be able to achieve the SDG goals through a free and secure democratic society.
STATE COUNSELLOR, H.E. AUNG SAN SUU KYI: “If we really believe in democracy where we are working to us is a society where people are free and secured. We work this role not only for the sake of the political system not just for the sake of the change in government but for the sake of the people in our country and through them people in the world because we share the same concerns, the same needs, we share the same believes that we can change the world in which we live”
Myanmar has already launched the Sustainable Development Goals early this year.
