Filled W/ Hope : People W/ Disabilities In Livelihood Training
With the financial assistance by City Love & Hope Foundation, over 100 people with disabilities were given vocational training for livelihood. Myanmar Deaf Community Development Association conducted the training and provided courses in making ornamental button and fancy accessories to trainers for 10 days and trainees for 19 days. But difficulties for trainees in producing good quality products and distributing their products to market remain. Plans to solve those are being considered, program advisor of MDCDA said.
PROGRAM ADVISOR ,MYANMAR DEAF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION ,SALAI DAVID : "What we are planning is to conduct additional training by specialists to be able to produce better products. Then we will arrange the place where they can buy raw materials easily and where they can go easily".
Trainee, Than Htike, shared his experience.
TRAINEE ,THAN HTIKE : "I learnt making various fancy accessories and I believe I can earn from this. So this is very effective training for me. I will try more hard to produce good fancy accessories and to distribute my products to market although I have difficulties in transportation".
City Love and Hope foundation is now creating opportunity for trainees to distribute their products to market easily, Marketing Director of City mart Holding Co.,Ltd said.
MARKETING DIRECTOR ,CITY MART HOLDING CO., LTD. ,MAY ZIN SOE HTET : "We are discussing with suppliers from Ocean Super center and designers to connect with the trainees to get their products into the market. At present, the handicrafts, the product of NGOs is selling at our Weekend Bazaar which is held at City Mart and Ocean Center".
Trainees with various disabilities including the hearing impaired and those suffering from autism joined the training.
