Oscar in Chile

The team of "A Bear Story", Oscar winner for the best animated short film, is proudly received by President Michelle Bachelet on their arrival to Chile, with the country’s first Oscar ever for a 10-minute movie talking about exile. Director Gabriel Osorio said, “I think that this is fundamental to break barriers and myths like if it’s Chilean, it must be bad quality. We were competing against a Pixar short film, which is like the biggest and the best animation firm, and we stood up for Chile, for Latin America, and here we’ve got the Oscar! There is obviously a political reading, but for me the essential has always been to talk about family, about the importance for the family to be united. It’s saying that exile is bad, just as war is bad, it’s something that I imagine that we all agree with."
