Inspection Tour: Rehabilitation Tasks In Yangon Region Inspected

As the inspection tour for rehabilitation of the flood-hit people, President U Thein Sein together with Union Ministers and officials left for Ah Phyauk in Taikkyi Township of Yangon Region via Uto, Sunday. On arrival at Ah Phyauk, the President and party inspected Ah Phyauk bank and gave instructions on the maintenance and upgrading tasks to officials. President U Thein Sein gave instruction to upgrade water course by taking into account the suggestions of experts to prevent the town from the danger of erosion. He pledged to heighten the present dyke which is 7.25 miles long and build another 1.25 miles long dyke. By heightening the present dyke for 5 feet, the town and 14475 acres of farmlands can be prevented from flooding. The President visited Innwa monastery and presented Buddha images and solar lamps, donated by the Union Government for the locals through the Inn Wa monastery Sayadaw. The President then paid homage to Lawka Man Aung Su Taung Pyae Pagoda (Maha Than Ta Hsaung) and also donated Buddha Images for the locals through the Sayadaws.. President U Thein Sein and party later viewed round the 720 stone inscriptions of Pitakat religious verses which are 98 years old. Then, president U Thein SEin and party arrived at Man Aung Myin Pyidawpyan pagoda in Zalun and offerd flowers, water and gold foils and made cash donation. He then cordially greeted the pilgrims and presented them Buddha images. Then, they proceeded to Ayeyawady-Hinthada dyke where officials reported that a waterway should be built by digging across the sand dune between Wah Tha Hla and Yun Thwe villages should be dug to improve the river water course and to prevent erosion of the dyke. The president guaranteed that arrangements will be made for digging the waterway. They arrived back in Yangon in the evening.
