Growing unease over Trump's election win

The European Commission president warns of two years wasted while Donald Trump "gets to know parts of the world he is unaware of." Paul Chapman from Reuters reports. Reporter, Reuters, Paul Chapman … European unease over Donald Trump's election win was summed up by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. EUROPEAN COMMISSION PRESIDENT, JEAN-CLAUDE JUNCKER <<< "I think that we will waste two years before Mr Trump gets to know the parts of the world he is unaware of." 

The U.S. president-elect is also planning to drop out of the Paris agreement on slowing climate change which he believes is a hoax. The French Environment minister who helped draw up the deal says that would be catastrophic. >>> FRENCH ENVIRONMENT MINISTER, SEGOLENE ROYAL … "I dare to believe that such things are campaign promises to please a certain electorate which has not understood that global warming is a reality or to answer the oil and fossil energy lobbies."

Trump's also expressed opposition to a pact to restrict Iran's nuclear ambitions. Iran's foreign minister says he wants all parties to stay committed. IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, MOHAMMAD JAVAD ZARIF <<< "Quite a lot of people, quite a lot of countries, who have been engaged in this so I think it will be in the interest of everybody to remain committed in practice."

The East End of London was once branded by Trump a no-go area for police because it was so radicalised. Muslims attending Friday prayers said he should come to see for himself. UNIDENTIFIED MAN … "This is proof for Trump that we can live together, people of different faiths, and there is no need to be separated." 

The previously-hostile British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is among those sounding a positive note on Trump's election win. UK FOREIGN SECRETARY, BORIS JOHNSON … "I think it's time that we snapped out of general doom and gloom about the result of this election and the collective whinge-o-rama that seems to be going on in some places."
