Investment Information: DICA Launches New Website

DICA launches Monday a new website built to give easier access to local and foreign businesses to relevant information on investments and company registration.

A new website of Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) was built with the financial and technical assistance of GIZ. It includes information on how to register a company, how to apply for an MIC permit, key data and statistics on investment opportunities and company search on registrations and so on.

The new website is expected to especially contribute to promoting Small and Medium Enterprises, head of programme from GIZ said.

HEAD OF PROGRAMME, GIZ MYANMAR, IRÌNA SCHEFFMANN: “Because small and medium enterprises are throughout the country. For them, it's difficult to find out what really businesses requirements are…So they can find out how to officially register and get license when they grow, and when they grow, they can hire more people; that provides more job. So that is important for us. So we can support throughout the whole country, small and medium enterprises.”

Businessmen applauded the new website but said they wish it could be linked to other ministries related to business and investments, for an even easier and convenient access to information in this sector.

JOINT SECRETARY GENERAL, UMFCCI, KHINE KHINE NEW: It would be easy for us if we could access all information not only from DICA but also from other concerning ministries and if we could apply some company registration process through this website.

The preparation for give online company registration services is ongoing and expected to be completed midyear, Director General of DICA said.

DIRECTOR GENERAL, DICA, AUNG NAING OO: We ask for consultation of Myanmar Companies Act from Union Attorney Head office and will submit this act to the parliament soon. Meanwhile, we are planning to give companies registration services based on Companies Act online, after the Act is enacted.

The new website will be accessible on www.dica.gov.mm starting March 3rd. The new website is hoped to contribute to the six billion dollar investments target in the coming fiscal year, according to DICA.
