Sittwe Seaport: Progress Of Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project

Construction of Sittwe Seaport has been completed 95 %, and will be completed cent percent in December according to Myanmar Port Authority.

Sittwe Seaport is part of Kaladan multi-modal transit transport project which is implementing under the agreement between the Governments of Myanmar and India in 2008. 

The implementation of the project started in December 2010. 

This project will connect Kolkata and Mizoram of India and Sittwe of Myanmar, and it will reduce distance from Kolkata to Sittwee by approximately 1328 Kilometers.

It will help promote development of transportation sector, friendly relations, economic cooperation between the two countries.  

The project will also bring more trade opportunities for the two countries, as it could connect not only India but also with other countries. It will also help better transportation for Rakhine and Chin States along with the development of tourism industry, and will create job opportunities for the locals. 

The project is estimated to cost about 480 million US dollars.
